The Great Lakes and its rivers, streams and lakes are a mind boggling natural wonderland for Trout, Atlantic and Pacific Salmon, winter and summer steelhead and every possible fly fishing opportunity one can imagine. Our streams and rivers are teeming with wild trout. Our Great Lakes and inland glacial lakes rivers have winter and summer steelhead, lake-run browns, 3 species of Pacific Salmon and an amazing growing fishery for Landlocked Atlantic Salmon.
I am Matthew Supinski – your guide, ghillie and mentor on your fly fishing journey. I have been guiding my amazing waters in Michigan for 37 years. I was blessed with my fly fishing passion in my youth growing up fishing in the Great Lakes of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie watersheds of my youth in Niagara; and Lake Huron watershed rivers at our families’ summer home from 6 years old. Those early years, along with living latter as a boy In the Baltic Corridor of Poland and its wonderful trout and salmon rivers that ran through our families’ farm, molded me to embrace and chase these fish my whole life. Today and for the past 34 years I have lived and guided and fished on the amazing waters of the Lake Michigan and Lake Superior rivers and streams, thus coming full circle in my inland sea and rivers passion of the greatest freshwater trout, salmon and steelhead wonderland on the planet.
In my guiding career I have taught and mentored thousands of students and clients in mastering the fine techniques of fly fishing for these amazing fish, along with always imparting a fine stewardship for the care of these magnificent fish and the hallowed waters they thrive in. Our Gray Drake Lodge on the Muskegon River in Michigan has provided that base for me to work from in my backyard waters for decades.
In addition to my guiding and fly fishing travel around the world from my previous career of being a corporate hotelier/ chef, I have authored 6 books, titles like: Steelhead Dreams, The Orvis Pocket Guide to Great Lakes Salmon and Steelhead, Selectivity-Trout, Salmon and Steelhead and The Brown Trout-Atlantic Salmon Nexus.
I also am Publisher and Editor, along with my wife the designer of Hallowed Waters Journal – The Passion and Journey of Fly Fishing for Trout, Steelhead and Salmon. Included in our latest endeavor I host the very popular Hallowed Waters Podcast, with a world-wide listener/subscribership of over 80 thousand. I have been Regional and Departmental Editor for Fly Fisherman Magazine and many other publications for over 25 years. I have written and photographed over 300 articles for publications around the globe.
All of this has allowed me to have the scope and depth necessary to offer all methods and styles of fly fishing to my established clients, and the new ones which I enjoy so much teaching and developing.
